Botox® in Greenwich, CT

Overactive muscles in the face can cause wrinkles and creases to form, contributing to premature. Injectables like Botox, Xeomin®, and Dysport®, temporarily quiet these muscles, allowing the creases to fade over time, resulting in a smoother, younger-looking complexion. Preventative botox, or botox injections done before deep creases form, are an effective way of preserving your youthful complexion for as long as possible.

At Greenwich Point Dermatology, Dr. Sarah Dolder uses neuromodulators judiciously, allowing natural expression and movement, while restoring a smoother, more relaxed face.

About Botox

Botox is part of a family of neuromodulators or compounds that block nerves that allow a muscle to function. The most frequent compound used today is botulinum toxin. Unlike fillers, which fill deep creases, pits, and lines to restore volume, neuromodulators are more subtle in their effects. By relaxing muscles, the aesthetic result is smoother skin with fewer lines.

Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating. To read more about its use there, read more here.

Common areas for neuromodulator placement include:

  • Forehead
  • Crow’s feet
  • Jaws
  • Neck

There are a variety of different formulations of the purified toxins with different strengths to accommodate various muscles and lines in the face.

Greenwich Point Dermatology offers the following neuromodulators:

  • Botox
  • Xeomin®
  • Dysport®
  • Jeuveau®

During your consultation with Dr. Dolder, she can advise you on which neuromodulators would be best suited for your overall skin goals and discuss their properties.

Botox Treatment

Botox and these other injections only take about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the areas treated, making it a perfect lunchtime procedure. There can be slight discomfort as it is an injection, but it’s very temporary.

Botox Results

Unlike fillers in which the effect is immediate, botox injections take a bit more time to take effect. Results can be seen in the next day or two, but full effects can take up to two weeks. For fine line and wrinkle reduction, results can last up to four months, although many patients get maintenance injections every season for the best results.

Botox Side Effects & Recovery

There are almost no noticeable side effects post-injection. Some experience slight redness at the injection site, while few experience very mild bruising. Most can return to their daily activities afterward. We just suggest avoiding intense exercise or heat.
