About Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are exfoliating treatments that use a combination of evidence-based acids to remove the top layers of skin. They are an effective acne treatment as they encourage cell turnover, helping slough off dead skin so it is unable to clog pores and cause inflammation.

Chemical peels can vary in potency and formulation, and be adjusted for each patient’s individual skin challenges.

Chemical peels can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Acne
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven tone and texture
  • Wrinkles and fine lines

Chemical Peel Treatment

The chemical peel takes about 15-20 minutes. During this time, you will feel a tingling sensation as the solution works to exfoliate the outer layer.

Chemical Peel Results

Chemical peel results take 7-10 days to fully manifest as the skin begins the regeneration process. Over time, and especially if a series of peels is performed, blemishes and discoloration will continue to fade.

Many patients elect seasonal treatments to maintain their results.

Chemical Peel Side Effects & Recovery

Chemical peels are noninvasive, and the ViPeel offers little downtime. You may experience mild stinging, irritation, redness, and flaking post appointment but it usually resolves within a week.
